Throughout the course of Slime Rancher players will find many different interesting things to do to fill their time. Collecting a range of different slimes and filling up the many different corrals around the ranch is one very productive thing to do in the game, but players can also explore the world to find hidden areas, or even expand their ranch into diverse new spots. All of these different things to do can be a little overwhelming sometimes, so its hard to figure out where to start.

The thing to keep in mind though is that to do anything the player will probably need a solid bank of money to keep themselves going. No matter what things that player wants to check out they will need that cash to either pay for new expansions, purchase items, or acquire upgrades. Earning money can be a pretty difficult process though, so players will need to work hard if they want to acquire a steady supply of income. This guide shows players the best ways to earn money fast in Slime Rancher.

Slime Rancher - Use Expansions for Free Range Slimes

Slime Rancher Pink Corral

One of the best ways to earn money in the game will require players to spend a little bit of money and time first though. Putting slimes in corrals is a great way to earn cash early on, but players who want to earn a lot of money will find that they can't safely contain as many slimes inside a corral as they might want. The way to combat this is to allow certain slimes free range of an area.

The player will need to keep a few things in mind if they want to make this work though. First and foremost they will need to purchase or obtain one of the many other expansions to the ranch. The Grotto and The Overgrowth in particular are great for allowing certain types of slimes to roam without corrals. By keeping them away from the main part of the ranch the player can make sure they aren't in their way constantly.

Another big thing is to only let one or two types of slimes free range at any given time in an area. This will prevent them from being able to turn into Tarrs which can completely decimate the whole area and wipe out the player's slimes. Keeping two types of slimes will only allow them to turn into Largos

A great early way to use free-ranging slimes is to fill The Grotto with Phosphor Slimes since it is completely dark, and these slimes require darkness. All the player has to do then is put in a few fruit trees and allow these slimes to roam and eat however they wish.

Slime Rancher - Effective Largo Combinations Are A Must

If the player really wants to make money in Slime Rancher though they will have to determine the best ways to combine slimes into Largos. There are some Largos that just really aren't worth the player's time due to their plorts being relatively worthless or the Largos being too dangerous. When players are combining different slimes together they will want to keep different these few things in mind:

1. Combine slimes that are difficult to feed with those who are easy to feed.

2. Hostile Slimes do better when combined with some of the more docile types of Slimes.

3. It is a waste of time to take care of Largo that gives off two worthless plorts, unless using them for scientific purposes.

There are several different combinations that the player will be able to create that is easy to use to gain money, but there are few that are perfect for players of any skill level. Honey/Hunter and Quantum/Saber are great combinations because they eliminate having to need chickens to keep the meat-eating slimes fed. At all costs, players should try to avoid combining meat-eating slimes like Boom, Saber, Hunter, and Tabby as they are difficult to keep happy and full. They can also make for pretty dangerous combinations.

Slime Rancher - Spend Time At Mochi's Manor

Many players may not realize that Mochi's Manor can be a great way to earn some extra cash. Once the player receives an invitation to travel to Mochi's place they will be able to complete a mini-game like quest for here that has them shooting Quicksilver Slimes in order to collect their plorts. The player will then sell these plorts directly back to Mochi for a decent chunk of change. This already gives the player a good way to earn some extra cash but there are others.

Just by completing these missions for Mochi, the player will also unlock additional rewards that will make way for more ways to earn money. One reward is a buff that will sometimes give the player double the money whenever they sell plorts at the market. This only triggers occasionally, but it is an easy way to earn extra cash. On top of this, the player will also be able to eventually earn Mochi's Manor entirely which will allow them to transport slimes or grow food there.

Slime Rancher - Open Crates and Treasure Pods

This method won't earn the player a massive amount of money for each individual object that they crack open, but over time this will definitely add up. Throughout the world, the player will find wooden crates tucked away in different areas that they can pick up and throw to break open. These will typically contain a few different resources like chickens, fruits, or veggies, but the player will also earn a little bit of money whenever one is opened as well.

Treasure Pods however are a little more rare and therefore will provide the player with some additional resources and money. In order to open them though the player will first need to unlock the treasure cracker upgrades first, which means spending a little bit of money first. The higher tiers of these upgrades can become very expensive, but it is also very worth it in the long run for those who want to open every single one of these pods.

Slime Rancher - Complete Range Exchange Missions

The final way to earn money in Slime Rancher can be done by completing missions for other ranchers. Every so often the player will receive requests from other ranchers around the area to acquire different resources for them. All the player has to do is go up to the Range Exchange and press the button in order to acquire a mission, and then set out to find the different things that these ranchers need.

Some of these quests will be easier to complete than others, but the more difficult ones will give the player better rewards. By turning finishing these better quests the player will be able to obtain more money for their efforts as well, so it's a good idea to try and take quests from characters like Viktor, Mochi, or Ogden that tend to give out tougher quests. These three also allow the player to check out some more interesting questlines as well.
